Nacque a Roma, nel secolo V, cristiana convinta, volle dedicare la sua verginità a Dio, pertanto rifiutò le nozze che gli venivano proposte. Trascorse la sua vita a Milasa in Caria, antica regione sud-orientale dell’Asia Minore, abitata da popolazioni di stirpe asiatica, colonia greca, specie sulla costa dove fiorirono città come Mileto, Alicarnasso, Magnesia, Cnido.
A Milasa visse con il nome di Xenia e un miracolo operato da lei confermò la sua santità fra la popolazione. Ulteriori notizie sia pure leggendarie sono riportate nella “Bibliotheca Hagiographica Graeca”, 3 voll. edita in 3a edizione a Bruxelles 1957, in lingua greca o francese.

Santa Secondina, originaria di Anagni, si convertì al cristianesimo e ricevette il battesimo per mano del vescovo San Magno martire. Non tardò ad abbattersi anche su di lei la furia della persecuzione anticristiana indetta dall’ imperatore Decio. Il suo corpo riposa nella cattedrale di Anagni,  altare di sinistra.

Saint HYGIN, pape et patriarche de Rome, martyr sous Antonin (142). Verso la fine del sec. 11, S. Ireneo, di ritorno da un viaggio a Roma, elencava i dodici vescovi succedutisi nella sede romana da S. Pietro ai suoi giorni. Igino era nono di questa serie, unico a portare questo nome, successore di S. Telesforo "che diede una gloriosa testimonianza" , cioè subì il martirio, sotto l'imperatore Adriano.

Il Liber Pontificalis e il Martirologio Romano affermano che anche Igino subì il martirio, l'11 gennaio (del 140?), durante la persecuzione di Antonino Pio, e fu sepolto "presso il corpo del beato Pietro in Vaticano".

Saint SEVERIN du Norique, abbé, apôtre du Norique (actuelle Autriche) (481). 

Nato forse da nobile famiglia romana verso il 410, dopo un soggiorno in Oriente, intorno al 454 si stabilì sul Danubio, ai confini del Norico e della Pannonia, erigendovi dei monasteri idonei a dar rifugio alle popolazioni minacciate e al tempo stesso punti di irradiazione del vangelo tra le tribù barbare.

Sainte ADELE, autre fille du roi saint Dagobert II, en son veuvage abbesse du monastère de Palz (Palatiolum) près de Trèves; une des saintes de la maison de France (vers 730). Fondatrice e prima abbadessa del monastero benedettino di Pfalzel (Treviri), che aveva la stessa regola dei monasteri di Ohren e di Nivelles; nonna ed educatrice di san Gregorio di Utrecht. Morì intorno al 730. Santa Adele di Pfalzel è legata al nome di un altro grande apostolo della Germania, l'inglese san Bonifacio che predicò il vangelo in Frisia, nella prima metà del secolo VIII. Durante uno dei suoi frequenti viaggi dalla Frisia alla Renania l'instancabile missionario fu ospite del monastero di cui era badessa Adele. La tradizione vuole che questa santa, rimasta vedova, entrasse nel monastero da lei stessa fondato, portandosi dietro il nipotino Gregorio. Durante la sosta nel monastero Bonifacio parlò così bene delle verità evangeliche che il ragazzo, ammirato, volle seguirlo. Divenne uno dei più zelanti discepoli del grande missionario. È uno degli episodi senza dubbio più significativi di questa santa

St. Scethe, or Sciath, Virgin and Patroness of Feart-Sceithe, now Ardskeagh, County Cork.Scethe, a virgin, from Fert Sceithe, is found on record in the "Martyrology of Tallagh," at the 1st day of January. From the "Martyrology of Donegal" we learn that veneration was given on this day to Sciath, virgin, and daughter to Meachair, of Feart-Sceithe, in Muscraighe-Aedha. St. Scethe belonged to the race of Conaire, son to Mogh-lamha, monarch of Ireland. Thus she was descended from the race of Heremon. The Church of Fiort-sceithe is placed by the Calendars of Marianus and of the Four Masters in Muscraighe-tri-maighe, or Muskerry of the Three Plains. It is known at present by the name of Ardskeagh, a small parish in that part of Fermoy barony bordering on the baronies of Orrery and Kilmore, county of Cork 

St. Fintan, son of Eochach, of Bealach.-Sixth or seventh century. Fintan Mac Eochach, of Bealach, has been set down in the "Martyrology of Tallagh" at the 1st of January. It is not easy to discover where the "bealach," meaning a "pass" or "road," lay. At this date the "Martyrology of Donegal" likewise registers Fuintain, son of Eochaidh, descended from the race of Laeghaire, son to Niall of the Nine Hostages. At the period of his death, which probably occurred sometime about the close of the sixth or beginning of the seventh century, he passed to a blessed life, promised to faithful servants, in the household of the Lord
